We know from the statistics that not only are there fewer women than men working in blockchain; women are also less likely to be crypto investors. No doubt, there are women who are really interested in crypto who have trouble getting their men to share their enthusiasm. So, whether you are male or female, here are four steps you can take to get your partner interested.
1. It’s important to me
When you start talking about cryptocurrency, you need to make it very clear to your partner that this is a topic that is very important to you. Twitter user AmericanHodl illustrated the technique:
“Wife: Wat r u doin on ur phone?
Me: This guy Craig said he was satoshi but he’s not and he tried to sue this space cat and then we all became space cats and then this English dude got sued and this Chinese guy delisted Craig’s shitcoin.
Me: this is important”
2. Explain why it is important
You will need some strong arguments to show why cryptocurrency is something that is important to you and engage their interest. Nicole Grinstead at CCN makes the following suggestions:
§ Blockchain is a big part of your life, and you want to be able to talk about it with them occasionally.
§ You believe blockchain is the revolution, and they should have a voice in it.
§ You think investing in cryptocurrencies now (at the start of another bull run) is an excellent opportunity for them to increase their wealth.
§ Financial stability begets things they might want for your conjoined future.
3. It’s not about investing
Women in particular aren’t typically raised to show much interest in investing, and there are probably many men who feel the same way. In this case you have to tone down your enthusiasm for investing in crypto and make the excitement about some other aspect of it, such as the social and political issues.
4. Make it about your partner
Figure out how cryptocurrencies and blockchain could have a real and direct impact on your partner’s life, and make it easier.
